PROTESTS in 18 towns and cities and Britain’s biggest hunger strike since the Troubles were announced today amid intensifying calls to reform Britain’s repressive terror laws behind the ban on Palestine Action.
Organisers said around 1,500 people could take part in the demonstrations next month, while others will begin rolling hunger strikes this Sunday.
More than 2,000 people have been arrested for allegedly supporting Palestine Action during mass events where protesters held placards saying “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action,” after it was proscribed as a terrorist group in July.
Suspects face up to two years in jail without charge.
…
The demonstrations come ahead of a legal hearing against former home secretary Yvette Cooper’s decision to proscribe the group under anti-terror laws.
Defend Our Juries spokesman Dr Clive Dolphin said: “This is about here in the UK, people having the right to protest, the right to speak up to government when they think the government has got something wrong, and fundamentally this is about the fact that the British people oppose genocide.
“They do not want to be complicit in war crimes. They do not want to see people starved to death in an artificial famine. British people oppose genocide.”

Out of touch: The Labour leadership show no sign of responding to public anger
WE will listen, we will learn the lessons. The boilerplate mantras have tripped easily off the tongue of Labour politicians since the catastrophic loss of Caerphilly in the Welsh Senedd by-election last week.
But do they mean it? The evidence is scant. Just this week we learn that ministers are preparing to relax regulations around “short-selling” — a fancy term for gambling by hedge funds, wherein they bet that the shares of a target company are going to fall.
This is an irredeemably useless activity from any social point of view, and Labour’s intention to indulge its practitioners is just another signal of its subordination to the City and neoliberalism in its most grotesque forms.
It speaks to the utter poverty of the government’s political imagination, and to Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s inability to think outside the box of conventional bourgeois economic strategy.
Was that what the thousands of lost Labour voters in Caerphilly were protesting about? Does the government actually imagine they were calling for easier treatment of hedge funds when they defected en masse to Plaid Cymru or Reform? Not even the most obliging Downing Street spin doctor could be persuaded to peddle such a line.
Keir Starmer says that the Labour Party under his leadership is intensely relaxed about assaulting those least able to defend themselves – the very poorest and most vulnerable.Keir Starmer explains that he feels no shame or guilt benefitting personally from gifts from the rich and powerful while insisting on policies of severe austerity causing suffering and death.Genocide denier and Current UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is quoted that he supports Zionism without qualification. CAMPAIGNERS encased statues of prominent social justice figures in prison bars today to challenge laws that criminalise protest.
Greenpeace activists imprisoned statues of Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and Millicent Fawcett outside Westminster, to highlight how they would fall foul of the government’s anti-protest laws if they were protesting today.
A new analysis by the group found that out of all the arrests made under the Terrorism Act since it came into force 24 years ago, almost half (2,100 out of 4,322) occurred in the last four months, predominately targeting people protesting the ban on Palestine Action.
Since the group was proscribed on July 5, police have carried out mass arrests of activists silently holding signs against the ban.
Green Party leader Zack Polanski said: “Calling peaceful protesters ‘terrorists’ is one of the most blatantly ridiculous and dangerous things this government has done.
“Nelson Mandela was jailed for fighting apartheid, this lot would’ve called him a national security threat. When we criminalise protest, we don’t just attack activists. We attack democracy itself.”

Palestinians mourn the loss of their loved ones during the funeral held at Nasser Hospital for those who were killed in the Israeli attack on Khan Yunis, despite the ceasefire in Gaza on October 29, 2025 [Mohammed Asad/Middle East Monitor]
The Israeli army killed 100 Palestinians, including at least 35 children, in the Gaza Strip since Tuesday evening, violating the ceasefire agreement, according to medics, Anadolu reports.
The Israeli strikes hit homes, tents sheltering displaced civilians, a vehicle, a shelter, and a hospital inside the so-called “yellow line,” medics told Anadolu.
The “yellow line” refers to the zone to which Israeli forces have withdrawn under the ceasefire agreement. It is a physical partition that runs through the Gaza Strip, dividing the Palestinian territory in half, and located inside Gaza, south of Gaza City and north of Khan Younis.
In northern Gaza, the Israeli army targeted a school-turned-shelter in an area in Beit Lahia, killing three civilians and injuring others.
The Israeli army shelled two houses in the Al-Nasr neighborhood and the Shati refugee camp in western Gaza City, in the north, leaving eight people dead.
A fresh Israeli strike on Wednesday morning hit a mosque sheltering displaced people in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, witnesses told Anadolu.
Two people were killed, 10 injured in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, and a number of civilians are still missing under the rubble of a house that was targeted by the army strikes. Several others were wounded in another attack southwest of the Zeitoun neighborhood.
A Palestinian mom and her child were killed by the Israeli army in Gaza City’s Tel al-Hawa neighborhood.
In the central Gaza Strip, four people lost their lives after an Israeli strike hit their tent in Deir al-Balah.
Six people lost their lives, and many others were wounded when Israeli aircraft struck a school-turned-shelter and a house in the Bureij refugee camp.
Five others were also killed in strikes that targeted several homes in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
In a similar attack, nine people, four of them children, were killed, and nine others went missing under the rubble of a house that was hit by the Israeli army in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Eight people, including three children, were killed in Israeli fire on tents sheltering displaced civilians in the Al-Mawasi area, western Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
Medical sources said the death toll is expected to rise due to several people sustaining critical injuries and ongoing searches for those missing under the rubble of destroyed homes.
The brutal Israeli attacks came in violation of a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on Oct. 10 under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan.
Phase one of the deal includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisages the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.
Israel has killed more than 68,500 people, mostly women and children, and injured over 170,000 others in attacks in Gaza since October 2023.

The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, announced on Tuesday that the agency has begun offering online lessons aimed at reaching around 300,000 children in the Gaza Strip.
Lazzarini explained that UNRWA is expanding its Back to Learning programme in Gaza through a combination of online and in-person education, despite the difficult humanitarian conditions in the territory.
He noted that “more than 25,000 children have now joined our ‘Temporary Learning Spaces’,” stressing, “We will continue increasing the number of such locations.”
Lazzarini emphasised that “literacy and education serve as an antidote to despair and trauma” experienced by children in Gaza.
He praised the efforts of thousands of UNRWA teachers and staff who continue their work despite daily challenges.
He added that the continuation of these programmes reflects UNRWA’s success in fulfilling its humanitarian and developmental mission towards Palestinian refugees under the most difficult circumstances.
