The Houthi-run Yemeni foreign ministry has warned Israel against continued violations of the ceasefire in Gaza, citing the latest attack that targeted Qassam Brigades commander Raed Saeed Saad.
In a statement, the ministry said that “the crimes of genocide in Gaza have not stopped and are still being committed on a daily basis, causing the killing of dozens of people, including children and women”.
It added that Israel has failed to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza and has not ended its military offensive or the blockade imposed on the Palestinian population in the territory.
The ministry also warned of what it described as continued escalation in the West Bank, including killings, house demolitions and damage to property, as well as the ongoing expansion of settlement plans “in an unprecedented manner”.
It called on the international community to compel Israel to implement the ceasefire agreement, complete the first phase, allow humanitarian aid to enter without obstacles, move forward with the second phase, and stop escalation and settlement activity in the West Bank.
The statement reaffirmed Yemen’s official position, saying that the country’s leadership, government and people continue to support the Palestinian people and what it described as their just cause.

The Israeli government has asked the Supreme Court to reject petitions calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dismiss National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
According to Israel’s Channel 14, the government has submitted its formal response to the court regarding petitions demanding Ben Gvir’s removal from office.
In its response, the Netanyahu government said that “the fate of the petitions is immediate rejection due to the absence of any legal basis that would justify exceptional and extreme intervention in the highest constitutional act, namely the formation of an elected government”. It added that the request violates the principle of separation of powers, the foundations of good governance, as well as the law and judicial precedent.
The government also stated: “The honourable court should not accept petitions that seek to create a precedent of judicial intervention in determining government ministers due to ideological opposition to the policies promoted by the minister.”
The petitions come amid growing legal and political criticism of Ben Gvir’s conduct, particularly over his controversial statements and policies, his interference in police work, and accusations of incitement and undermining the rule of law.

Rabbi Eli Schlinger, who was killed in an armed attack in Sydney on Sunday, had previously visited Israel and met with Israeli soldiers, encouraging them to continue the war of genocide against the Gaza Strip, an Israeli television channel and an Israeli activist have revealed.
Schlinger was among 12 people killed and at least 29 others wounded during an armed attack that took place during Hanukkah celebrations at Bondi Beach in Sydney, according to Australian authorities. The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation(Kan) confirmed that Schlinger was an emissary of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement in Australia.
Israeli activist and journalist Hanoch Daom wrote on Instagram that Schlinger travelled to Israel following 7 October 2023, where he met with Israeli soldiers to offer what Daom described as “support and encouragement” during the ongoing military campaign in Gaza.
Israel’s Channel 12 later broadcast an image showing Schlinger sitting among Israeli soldiers atop a military vehicle. The broadcaster did not clarify where or when the photograph was taken, nor whether it was inside the Gaza Strip.
Schlinger’s social media accounts show that he used the image of himself with Israeli soldiers as his profile picture on both Facebook and Instagram, openly expressing support for the Israeli army.
The Chabad-Lubavitch movement has long rejected Palestinian national rights and opposes any political settlement that would grant Palestinians sovereignty over occupied territory.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has, for more than two years, resulted in the killing of over 70,000 Palestinians and the wounding of more than 171,000 others, most of them women and children, according to Palestinian health authorities and international organisations. The campaign has triggered widespread international condemnation and deepened Israel’s global isolation.

Pro-Israel social media influencers have been caught spreading false information about the identity of the man who disarmed a shooter during a deadly attack in Bondi Beach, Australia, falsely claiming that the hero was Christian, despite confirmation that he is a Syrian Muslim named Ahmed Al-Ahmed.
The fabrication appears to have been designed to prevent a Muslim being credited with an act of extraordinary courage. Ahmed Al-Ahmed, who confronted and disarmed the attacker with his bare hands, was initially described in media reports as a fruit stall owner in the shopping centre.
Among those peddling the lie was Laura Loomer, a far-right commentator and pro-Israel activist who posted: “The media keeps saying the man who disarmed the Muslim terrorist in Australia today is also a Muslim who owns a fruit stand. Credible reports suggest the man is actually a Lebanese or Coptic Christian. Don’t fall for the propaganda.”

Another pro-Israel social media figure, Eyal Yakoby, similarly posted: “BREAKING: The hero who disarmed one of the shooters in Australia is reportedly a Maronite Christian. A true hero.”

Both claims were false. Ahmed Al-Ahmed’s cousin, Mustafa Al-Ahmed, confirmed to Australian outlets that Ahmed is a practising Muslim from the city of Idlib, Syria. Community members and friends also corroborated his identity.
Social media users have pointed out that the refusal by pro-Israel influencers to accept that a Muslim man could be a selfless hero reflects the deeply ingrained Islamophobia that underpins much of pro-Israel discourse. Rather than recognising the bravery of a Muslim man who risked his life to save Jews, they attempted to rewrite his identity to align with their ideological agenda, which consistently vilifies Muslims.
Some pointed out that the disinformation campaign highlights how Islamophobic rhetoric is quickly weaponised. Rather than celebrating a Muslim hero who put himself in harm’s way to protect others, influencers with large followings used their platforms to erase his identity and falsely assign it to a Christian.
Observers have also pointed to a pattern whereby Muslim acts of heroism are downplayed, denied or co-opted, while Muslim perpetrators are amplified to reinforce racist stereotypes. The incident in Bondi is now being cited as a textbook example of digital erasure in service of anti-Muslim narratives.
Ahmed Al-Ahmed has not yet spoken publicly but is reportedly recovering from injuries sustained during the attack. Community leaders have called for him to be honoured for his bravery.
While the mainstream media has now corrected the record, critics note that Loomer and Yakoby’s posts remain live and continue to be shared.

After Iceland joined Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Slovenia in withdrawing from Eurovision 2026, 17 Portuguese musicians competing in the national selection show Festival da Cancao said they would refuse to represent Portugal even if selected for the next year’s song contest, Anadolu reports.
The entrants in the internal contest to elect a representative issued a statement protesting Israel’s controversial participation in the contest, according to Euronews.
“With words and with songs, we act within the possibilities we are given. We do not accept complicity with the violation of Human Rights,” the statement said.
“Despite Russia’s ban from Eurovision 2022 for political reasons, we were surprised to see that the same stance was not taken towards Israel, which, according to the United Nations, is committing acts of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza,” it added.
In response, Portugal’s public broadcaster RTP said: “Regardless of the decision of the artists who subscribe to the statement, RTP will once again organise Festival da Canção and reaffirms its participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.”
Salvador Sobral, Portugal’s only Eurovision winner, also criticized RTP’s position in a video shared on social media, accusing the broadcaster of “political cowardice.”
Public outrage has meanwhile spread across Portugal, leading to the launch of a petition calling for the country’s immediate withdrawal from Eurovision.
The petition, which has gathered more than 22,000 signatures, argues that RTP’s backing of Israel’s participation “puts Portugal on the wrong side of history.”
“This stance is unacceptable in the face of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe and military offensive in the Gaza Strip, and in the face of the vote rigging scandals that marred the 2025 edition in Basel, proving the inability of the organisation (EBU) to curb the politicisation of the event,” the petition said.
