Nine Palestinians were injured in fresh Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, as Israel continued daily violations of a ceasefire in place since last October, medical sources said.

The sources said two Palestinians were wounded after being targeted by a quadcopter drone in the Shujaiya area east of Gaza City.

Six more Palestinians were injured in a drone strike targeting a group of civilians near Shuhadaa Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.

A fisherman was also wounded by Israeli naval fire off the northwestern coast of Rafah in the south, the sources said.

Israeli artillery also shelled areas northeast of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza with several rounds, with no injuries reported, witnesses told Anadolu.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, the Israeli army has committed 377 violations of the ceasefire agreement during April, resulting in the killing of 111 Palestinians and the injury of 376 others, while continuing to restrict the entry of aid.

“Only 4,503 aid trucks entered Gaza out of the 18,000 stipulated in the ceasefire agreement, representing no more than 25%,” the office said in a statement.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said the death toll from Israeli attacks since October 2023 has reached 72,601, while 172,419 others have been injured.

According to the ministry, at least 824 Palestinians have been killed and 2,316 others injured by Israeli fire since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, 2025.

The ceasefire agreement was reached after two years of Israeli genocidal war that began Oct. 8, 2023, with US support, causing widespread destruction affecting about 90% of civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at around $70 billion.

The General Directorate of Civil Defence in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday denied claims by the Israeli army that an ambulance was used to “transport Palestinian fighters”, saying the allegations are completely false.

In a press statement, the directorate said that ambulances have never been used by any armed groups.

It explained that the people shown in footage released by Israel were members of the civil police carrying their personal weapons. They were carrying out their duties by helping to clear the way for ambulances while wounded people were being transported, not as Israel has claimed.

The directorate stressed that Israel deliberately fabricates images and selectively edits video clips in an attempt to mislead public opinion and justify its ongoing crimes against civilians. These include attacks on medical teams, paramedics and ambulances while they are carrying out their humanitarian work.

Gaza Civil Defence said it remains fully committed to working in line with international laws and conventions. It called on human rights and media organisations to expose these false claims and to help protect humanitarian workers operating in the field.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Monday that the territorial unity of Ukraine, the Gaza Strip and Venezuela is not open to negotiation.

In a post on the X platform, Sanchez said that “respect for the sovereignty of all states and their territorial integrity is a non-negotiable principle, from Ukraine to Gaza, including Venezuela”.

Commenting on remarks by US President Donald Trump, who described Greenland as having a strong strategic position and said the United States needs it for national security reasons, Sanchez expressed his rejection of those statements.

He added that Spain “will always remain actively committed to the United Nations and will be in full solidarity with Denmark and the people of Greenland”.

On Sunday, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay and Chile said in a joint statement that they “reject unilateral US military operations” in Venezuelan territory.

The statement, distributed by the Spanish authorities, said: “We express our deep concern about what is happening in Venezuela and our rejection of unilateral military actions carried out on Venezuelan territory.” Such actions had violated the “basic principles of international law, in particular the prohibition of the use of force and respect for territorial sovereignty established in the United Nations Charter.”

The Israeli army killed at least five Palestinians, including a young girl, and injured others in ongoing attacks across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, ignoring US President Donald Trump’s call for an immediate halt to the bombardment, Anadolu reports.

Trump had urged Israel to “stop bombing Gaza immediately” after Hamas announced its willingness to release Israeli captives according to his proposal, stating he believed the movement was “ready for lasting peace.”

Medical sources and eyewitnesses told Anadolu that despite the call, Israeli forces struck two homes in Gaza City and in the central Nuseirat refugee camp, leaving at least five dead and several others injured.

Israeli air and artillery strikes also continued across Gaza City and Khan Younis in the south, with intensified demolition operations using drones and explosives targeting residential buildings in multiple areas of Gaza throughout the night.

Since October 2023, Israeli bombardment has killed nearly 66,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The UN and rights groups have repeatedly warned that the enclave is being rendered uninhabitable, with starvation and disease spreading rapidly.

Spain’s foreign minister said Monday that his country and the European Union will “never recognize” any unilateral annexation of the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, condemning Israel’s military escalation in the territory, Anadolu reports.

“I spoke out immediately, I firmly condemned it: neither we nor the European Union will ever recognize it,” Jose Manuel Albares told Spanish broadcaster RTVE. “We will never recognize this illegal unilateral annexation of Gaza or the West Bank, where illegal settlements are advancing.”

Albares stressed that what the Middle East needs right now is the security of the Palestinian people, and the security of the people of Israel.

“This escalation in Israel’s military occupation of Gaza will only bring more death, more suffering, further impede the release of the hostages, and destabilize the Middle East,” he warned.

He urged for “a permanent ceasefire, an end to this blockade that Israel is imposing on Gaza, this induced famine, a massive influx of humanitarian aid, the immediate release of all the hostages, and a definitive peace, which is the same as establishing a two-state solution.”

Israel is already facing mounting condemnation for its genocidal war on Gaza, where it has killed more than 61,000 Palestinians since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave and led to deaths by starvation.
