THE GOVERNMENT faced fresh criticism today after appointing several pro-Israel hardliners to the House of Lords.

Mike Katz, Luciana Berger, David Evans, Steve McCabe and Phil Wilson – who helped undermine left-wing former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn with anti-semitism allegations – are among 30 new Labour peers.

The appointees mostly comprise a string of ex-MPs and Sir Keir Starmer loyalists, including his former chief of staff Sue Gray.

A Jewish Voice for Labour spokesperson told the Star: “Mike Katz is one of several new peers rewarded for damaging the Labour Party we at JVL supported.

“These rewards [come] from a government keener on destroying that party than addressing the crises of poverty, oppression, war crimes and racism.”

Basem Farajallah, of the UK Gaza Community group, said the appointment of Mr Katz showed Labour is “still the same as the Conservatives … ignoring the mass support for the Palestinian cause” in Britain.

Tories ask who authorised Labour donor’s No 10 pass

The Conservatives are demanding to know who authorised a Downing Street pass for Labour’s biggest donor, despite him having no formal job at the premises.

The Sunday Times revealed that Lord Waheed Alli had been issued with a temporary pass for Number 10.

Downing Street confirmed that he did have a pass but that it was “temporary” and “given back several weeks ago”.

In a letter to Cabinet Secretary Simon Case, the Tories said it was “deeply concerning” the pass had been issued at all.

The letter from shadow paymaster general John Glen asks whether the PM or his chief of staff, the former civil servant Sue Gray, had requested the pass for Lord Alli.

He has also asked for details on whether any other donors have received security passes for Number 10 and if other temporary passes have been issued.

“A Downing Street pass should be a privilege reserved for those that require access for work, including civil servants and special advisers, not those requiring occasional access,” he wrote in his letter.

“It is therefore deeply concerning that a pass was granted to a Labour donor providing unfettered access to the heart of government after significant cash and non-cash donations were made to the Labour Party.”

The Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACOBA), which oversees appointments of senior civil servants after they leave their roles, has given the green light for former senior civil servant Sue Gray to join Labour as leader Keir Starmer’s chief of staff.

Wonder if she’s any good at anything & Starmer seems to be poor at spelling, ei? I sometimes wonder if he’s just a bit intellectually challenged tbh but undecided as yet.
