ANTI-ARMS campaigners have lodged a criminal complaint with the Met Police’s war crimes unit, accusing exhibitionists at the DSEI arms fair “aiding and abetting” Israel’s offences in Gaza.

The Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) said it had reported the criminal liability of several individuals linked to atrocities in Gaza who attended the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) fair at the ExCeL Centre in London, last week

Of the hundreds of companies present, 51 were Israeli firms, including Elbit Systems, Rafael and Israel Aerospace Industries — all named in a UN report as central to Israel’s military genocide in Gaza.

Under terrorism laws, it is an offence to engage in “conduct ancillary” to war crimes or crimes against humanity, including aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring such offences.

A CAAT spokesperson said: “These are the arms companies arming the [Israel Defence Force]. 

“These are the arms companies facilitating and profiting from Israel bombing hospitals, killing journalists and creating a man-made famine. 

“UK law is clear — these individuals should be investigated for crimes against humanity, not invited to profit from the unspeakable devastation they have caused in Gaza.”

Police arrest over 100 at protests supporting Palestine Action

CAMPAIGNERS urged police to redirect resources toward investigating Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for genocide offences, after more than 100 people were arrested for holding signs supporting Palestine Action on Saturday.

Demonstrators held placards reading: “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action” in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol and Truro at protests co-ordinated by Defend Our Juries.

In London, the Metropolitan Police arrested 55 people in Parliament Square.

The arrests were made under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000, which prohibits wearing or displaying items that could suggest support for a proscribed group. 

One woman detained by police said: “Our government is not only arming a genocide, they are using terrorism laws to silence people who speak out.

“Palestine Action are campaigning for peace. They are dismantling weapons factories.”

A NEW film is warning that “police state tactics” are being used to silence pro-Palestine activists.

Producer Norman Thomas said that the film, Censoring Palestine, shows examples of counter terrorism laws being “stretched and perverted” to try to crush protest in Britain.

He said: “We are seeing dawn raids on journalists, academics being arrested for making speeches, protesters being jailed without bail for long periods — and all using false accusations of terrorism.

“This is all too reminiscent of a police state — and unless someone calls a halt, may lead to one.”

The film features interviews with victims of the use of counter-terrorism laws and their lawyers and legal advisers.

Mr Thomas said: “What we are hearing from them all is that laws supposedly meant to protect people from terror attacks are in fact being stretched and perverted in unprecedented ways to crush protest and free speech.”

He said that mainstream media had imposed a blackout on reporting the use of anti-terrorism laws against protesters.
