  • NHS in crisis :: The billions of wasted NHS cash no-one wants to mention

    Spread the love

England’s Junior doctors held a 24-hour strike from 8am yesterday. It was the first of a planned series of strikes. Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party and the Green Party should be commended for their support of the strike. (The strike only applies to England).

[15/1/16 11.10am The Labour Party’s position on the strike is complex, ” … Labour’s health spokeswoman Heidi Alexander had explained to them that the party would stand by its policy of not supporting industrial action.” John McDonnell joined junior doctors despite Labour agreement to not endorse strike]

While it’s very tempting to address the strike, today’s featured article instead addresses a fundamental problem with the NHS which is largely ignored by corporate media – that of the huge bureaucratic overhead of imposing a fake, imaginary ‘market’ so that the private sector can extort it’s ‘tax’. The conclusions to be drawn from this article should be clear.

  • Coming soon :: NHS followed by tax-avoidance/UK wealth distribution

Time I pulled my finger out.

Starting tomorrow for a week or so a series of articles on the NHS. I’ll be mostly lifting the articles from OpenDemocracy with a few embelishments. The following week or so I intend to be featuring articles about tax-avoidance and UK wealth distribution. The intention is to inform.

    and season’s greetings

  • Thank you Mr. Corbyn but I am obliged respectfully to decline

< I’ve got an absolutely fantastic bit to put in here but I need to ask first >

I’m sorry Mr. Corbyn, I can’t accept because in accepting I feel that it would legitimise the absolute disregard for human rights that I have experienced together of course with so many others.

ed: I’m making this up of course. Imagination is good. Mr. Corbyn is welcome to offer and I confirm that I will refuse as stated.

ed: ed: I’m not making the top fantastic bit up.

  • The NHS is ours. The NHS is what makes us special. We care for people.

ed: I’ve amended this post. The title originally had ‘ That’s what Socialism is ‘ at the end. I’m not sure that it is appropriate. While I accept that Socialists certainly do care about people, I don’t consider that it is correct to associate the NHS so clearly (tightly) with Socialism. Although – of course – that is exactly the reality.

later ed: It’s yours and mine?

The NHS is so important. It is ours and it’s important. It cares for people when they’re sick  and vulnerable.

Do you ever get that feeling that as your write it’s not so much that you’re writing on a tractor as your flicking a doganoo!

Let that be a lesson to you!
