BRITAIN was accused of emboldening Israel to commit further atrocities today.
Israel continued its murderous rampage across the Middle East, bombing Yemen, Syria, and Gaza over the last week.
Tel Aviv also invaded neighbouring Lebanon after killing over 1,000 people in the country in a fortnight.
Iran launched multiple missiles at Israeli targets on Tuesday evening in response, which was “utterly condemned” by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in a national address.
Affirming his support for Tel Aviv, he said: “We stand with Israel, and recognise her right to self-defence in the face of this aggression.”
Sir Keir emphasised the need for “de-escalation” in the region and called on Iran to “stop these attacks.”
That evening, Israel stepped up its bombardment of Gaza, which has already killed at least 40,000 Palestinians, murdering dozens more in attacks on an orphanage and a school-turned shelter.
Ben Jamal, director of Palestine Solidarity Campaign, said: “Keir Starmer was quick to announce he ‘completely condemns’ Iran’s missile strikes but he has never found these words to address Israel’s genocide in Gaza, strikes on the Iranian embassy, or attacks on civilians in Lebanon. The hypocrisy is stark.
“It is appalling that the UK government would ally itself with a state committing genocide and violating the sovereignty of neighbouring states though indiscriminate bombing that in past week alone have killed over 1,000 people, mostly civilians.”

Calls mount for independent review into physician associates

LEADING medics demanded an independent review into physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs) to investigate concerns around patient safety today.
Plans have been outlined to expand the number of PAs and AAs across the NHS to 10,000 by 2037.
Unlike doctors, who study medicine for five years and undertake two years of placements, medical associates qualify from a two-year master’s degree.
The roles have faced backlash over concerns that they will replace trained doctors.
This intensified after a 29-year-old woman died in 2022 after being misdiagnosed twice by a PA she thought was a GP.
The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges has written to Health Secretary Wes Streeting and NHS chief Amanda Pritchard to call for a rapid review to “clarify claims around their safety and usefulness in patient-facing roles” and examine if the roles are cost effective, efficient and safe for patients.

UK forces involved in response to Iran attacks on Israel

UK forces were involved in supporting Israel in the conflict in the Middle East after Iran launched a missile attack on the country.
Defence Secretary John Healey said British forces had “this evening played their part in attempts to prevent further escalation”, without giving more details.
The BBC understands UK fighter jets were involved, as they were in April when Iran last attacked Israel with missiles.
Responding on Tuesday to Iran’s attack, which the Israeli military said involved 180 missiles being fired with most intercepted, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the UK “stands with Israel” and recognises its right to self-defence.
