Israeli forces raid Syrian town in Quneitra countryside

Five Israeli military vehicles infiltrated a village in the Quneitra countryside of southwestern Syria on Sunday, in the latest violation of the country’s sovereignty, Anadolu reports.

An Israeli force of five military vehicles moved into the town of Saida al-Golan in southern Quneitra early morning, before pulling back afterwards, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

Israeli forces also raided the outskirts of Ma’riya village, west of Daraa province, the outlet said.

Israeli incursions in Quneitra have recently intensified, with locals complaining of Tel Aviv’s advances into their farmland as well as the destruction of hundreds of acres of forests, arrests of residents, and the establishment of military checkpoints.

According to government data, the Israeli army had carried out over 1,000 airstrikes on Syria and more than 400 cross-border raids into the southern provinces since December 2024.

After the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarised buffer zone, a move that violated the 1974 Disengagement Agreement with Syria.

German Left party urges ‘end to repression against pro-Palestinian movements’

Germany’s opposition party The Left on Saturday called for an end to what it views as a crackdown against pro-Palestinian solidarity movements in the country, Anadolu reports.

“The repression against pro-Palestinian movements must end. Palestinian self-determination can only go hand in hand with Jewish self-determination in Israel and Palestine, and vice versa,” said Left party chairwoman Ines Schwerdtner at a state party congress in Berlin.

Schwerdnter also called on her party to stand up for the Palestinian cause.

Last month, UN experts expressed concern over Germany’s policing of pro-Palestine demonstrations and “suppression” of Palestine solidarity activism, which they said has become increasingly restrictive since October 2023.

They observed that, despite the peaceful nature of most pro-Palestine demonstrations, Germany has been “criminalising, punishing, and suppressing legitimate Palestinian solidarity activism.”

The experts noted that protesters’ demands have been “legitimate,” including calls for “halting arms exports to Israel, ending the genocide and the Israeli illegal occupation, ensuring humanitarian aid access to Gaza, the recognition of the State of Palestine, and accountability” for international crimes.

Israel returns remains of 15 more Gazans under ceasefire deal, Health Ministry

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Saturday that it had received the remains of 15 more Palestinians from Israel via the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) under a ceasefire deal, Anadolu Agency reports.

A ministry statement said that the new transfer brought the number of Palestinian bodies returned by Israel to 330 since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10.

Forensic teams have so far identified 97 bodies and are continuing examinations “in accordance with approved medical procedures and protocols” before the remains are documented and released to families, the ministry said.

Palestinian authorities said that many of the bodies handed over by Israel showed signs of abuse, including beatings, bound hands, blindfolds, and facial disfigurement, and were returned without names.

Families have been trying to identify the remains of their relatives by physical markings or clothing, as forensic facilities in Gaza remain out of service due to a years-long Israeli blockade and the destruction of laboratories.

Before the ceasefire, Israel held 735 Palestinian bodies in so-called “cemeteries of numbers,” according to the Palestinian National Campaign to Retrieve Martyrs’ Bodies.

The Israeli daily Haaretz also reported that the army has been holding about 1,500 bodies of Palestinians from Gaza at the notorious Sde Teiman military base in southern Israel.

Israel has killed nearly 69,200 people and injured over 170,700, mostly women and children, in a brutal offensive in Gaza since October 2023 and reduced the enclave to rubble.

Israeli army detains 15 Palestinians during West Bank raids

The Israeli army launched a widespread arrest campaign in several areas across the occupied West Bank, detaining 15 Palestinians, according to local sources.

Three young people were arrested in Nablus’ Askar refugee camp, three in the southern Madama village, and two others in the eastern Beit Furik town after their homes were searched by the Israeli soldiers, local sources told Anadolu.

In the northern city of Qalqilya, the army rounded up six Palestinians, including two siblings, during a raid on the Kfar Saba neighborhood, the official news agency Wafa reported.

The Israeli army forces stormed Bayt Rima town in northwestern Ramallah, central West Bank, and fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters before detaining two Palestinians, local sources told Anadolu.

According to the Commission of Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Israel has arrested more than 20,000 Palestinians since October 2023, while over 9,100 remain detained, in addition to hundreds held in military camps.

Attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers have escalated in the occupied West Bank since the Gaza war in October 2023, killing more than 1,070 Palestinians and injuring 10,700 others, Palestinian figures showed.

In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

UN agency calls for entry of shelter supplies into Gaza amid harsh weather conditions

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) called Saturday for the entry of sheltering materials into the war-torn Gaza Strip as heavy rains flood tents of displaced civilians amid dire humanitarian conditions, Anadolu reports.

“Winter has come to Gaza,” the UNRWA said on US social media company X.

“Winter rains in Gaza are making conditions even more desperate. Families taking shelter anywhere they can, including in makeshift tents.”

The UN agency reiterated that it has the shelter supplies that are urgently needed in Gaza “to help people get through winter.”

According to Gaza Civil Defense, dozens of tents sheltering displaced Palestinians were flooded in Al-Mawasi in the southern city of Khan Younis.

Since early Friday, the Gaza Strip has been under a low-pressure system accompanied by a cold air mass and heavy rainfall, compounding the sufferings of 1.5 million displaced civilians in the war-torn enclave.

Israel continues to block the entry of shelter materials such as tents and mobile homes, reneging on its obligations under a ceasefire agreement that entered into force on Oct. 10.
