THE head of Israel’s internal security service has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of trying to exploit the agency for political and personal gain by making numerous improper demands.

In a submission to the Supreme Court om Monday, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar wrote that he had refused a request from Mr Netanyahu to identify anti-government protesters and put their financial backers under surveillance.

Mr Bar added he had been told to obey Mr Netanyahu, not the courts, in the event of a constitutional crisis. He also said there had been unsuccessful attempts to force him to sign a document making it nearly impossible for the prime minister to testify in his corruption trial due to security concerns. Mr Netanyahu’s office dismissed Mr Bar’s affidavit as “full of lies.”

THE latest US air attacks on the Yemeni capital Sanaa killed 12 people and wounded 30, the Houthi-led government said today.

This followed the news that US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth had shared a second Signal chat in which he gave details of an earlier strike on Yemen.

The Houthis said the latest strike had hit the Farwa neighbourhood market in Sanaa’s Shuub district.Footage screened on the al-Masirah satellite television channel showed damage to vehicles and buildings in the area, with screaming onlookers holding what appeared to be a dead child. Strikes overnight into today also hit other areas of the country, including the Amran, Hodeida, Marib and Saada governorates.Last week, US air attacks on the Ras Isa fuel port killed at least 74 people.

The US is targeting the Houthis in response to their attacks on Israeli and US shipping in the Red Sea.

YOUTH DEMAND swarmed London on Saturday to demand a trade embargo on Israel and taxes on the super-rich to pay climate reparations.

Sixty-three activists split into two groups and disrupted traffic across the capital including at Aldgate East station, High Holborn, London Bridge and Oxford Circus.

Both teams then converged on Waterloo Bridge where they remained for half an hour, before two supporters were arrested under breach of Section 7 of the Public Order Act.A Youth Demand spokesperson said: “Since October 7 2023, more than 10 children in Gaza have lost one or both of their legs each day since Israel began indiscriminately murdering civilians. “The operations to save these children’s lives are often carried out without anaesthetic due to the ongoing blockade of food and medical supplies being prevented from entering Gaza. “The UK is providing the weapons and logistical support that are being used to blow these children’s limbs off. “What sort of ‘decent’ and ‘respectable’ society allows this to happen in 2025?? We need a total trade embargo with Israel right now!”
