Restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities on the entry of medical supplies into Gaza have led to critical shortages, severely impacting health care services, according to a statement released on Friday by Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Anadolu reports.

Dr. Randa Abu El-Khair Masoud, a medical adviser with MSF, said the organization has been unable to bring any medical supplies into Gaza since Jan. 1, despite significant humanitarian needs in the enclave.

“Every day, in our hospitals and clinics, we see the impacts of the restrictions on the entry of medical supplies into Gaza, Palestine. The needs in Gaza are massive, yet not enough aid is entering because Israeli authorities are blocking it,” Masoud said.

She warned that nearly 50% of essential medications for non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, and respiratory illnesses, are at critically low levels.

Due to the shortages, MSF has stopped admitting new patients to its non-communicable diseases programs, limiting treatment to existing patients only.

“This shortage in proper care will inevitably lead to preventable deaths among patients suffering from chronic diseases,” she said.

The organization is also facing a lack of basic medical supplies such as gauze and compresses, affecting wound care services, particularly for postoperative patients and burn victims.

During a previous blockade between August and Sept. 2025, MSF teams were forced to use non-sterile gauze sterilized in batches, a measure considered a last resort due to infection risks.

“Now, we are close to this point again,” she warned.

Medical equipment shortages are further straining health care services. Masoud said no new equipment or spare parts have entered Gaza this year, leading to frequent malfunctions.

“Our teams are working hard to continue providing care, but they are under immense strain,” she said, stressing that emergency measures cannot substitute for consistent access to medical supplies.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s effort to drive medical charity out of Gaza backed by an aggressive Israeli propaganda campaign in Britain.

Israel’s government is funding an advertisement campaign in Britain to attack medical charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Declassified can reveal.

MSF has provided crucial medical care to Palestinians throughout the Gaza genocide, with international and local staff working in hospitals across the besieged strip.

Transparency data shows the Israeli Government Advertising Agency is paying for an advert to appear as the top result on Google when users search for information about the charity.

The advert leads to an official Israeli report accusing MSF of “grave misconduct” in Gaza and behaviour “that contradicts the fundamental ethics of international humanitarian action”.

The propaganda offensive comes as Israel seeks to limit the work of MSF and other humanitarian organisations in Gaza as part of its wider dismantling of life-saving services for Palestinians.

MSF’s registration to operate in Gaza and the West Bank has not been valid since the start of January and the organisation says it might be forced to cease operations by 1 March.

Patients in Gaza have responded to the news with horror, with one saying: “If MSF stops working, people will lose their lives”.

MSF said in a statement: “We remain committed to providing assistance to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and call on the Israeli authorities to reverse their decision… and to put in place acceptable operating conditions”.

The UK government is reportedly mulling reversing its arms suspensions to Israel, despite one of the core reasons for those suspensions being Israel’s restriction of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

MSF denies Israeli allegations against staff

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has rejected Israeli allegations that its staff have links to armed groups describing the claims as unsubstantiated and politically timed to coincide with obstacles placed on the renewal of its registration.

In a statement issued on Thursday, MSF said the accusations are being made publicly without evidence and alongside the introduction of new and unclear registration requirements that threaten its ability to continue operating.

The organisation denied reports that it had failed to comply with registration rules, saying that since July 2025 it has fully engaged with Israeli authorities and provided most of the requested information. It said it continues to pursue dialogue in order to maintain its medical operations and support Gaza’s devastated health system.

MSF warned that such actions place medical personnel at risk and could deprive hundreds of thousands of Palestinians of life-saving healthcare at a time when the health system in the Gaza Strip has largely collapsed.

The organisation said it is still awaiting the renewal of its registration to operate in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank until 31 December 2025, under new Israeli requirements that include submitting lists of employees’ names. It added that despite months of communication, it has received no clear criteria or guarantees.

MSF said that on 30 December Israeli authorities publicly accused it of having ties to armed groups, an allegation it categorically denied.

Israel confirmed on Thursday that it intends to enforce a ban on the activities of 37 major international humanitarian organisations operating in Gaza, citing their alleged failure to provide lists of Palestinian employees under new legislation.

The so-called Israeli Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism said organisations that did not meet what it described as required security and transparency standards would have their licences suspended, a move aid groups warn will further worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

ISRAEL’S new registration rules for organisations providing humanitarian aid to people in Gaza risks leaving hundreds of thousands without lifesaving healthcare in 2026, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warned today.

The new requirements threaten to withdraw registration from international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) from January 1.

This non-registration would prevent humanitarian organisations from providing essential services to people in Gaza and the West Bank, MSF said today.

“With Gaza’s health system already destroyed, independent and experienced humanitarian organisations losing access to respond would be a disaster for Palestinians,” MSF said.

The international medical charity called on Israel to ensure that INGOs can maintain and continue their work in Gaza, saying the already restricted humanitarian response cannot be further dismantled.

“In the last year, MSF teams have treated hundreds of thousands of patients and delivered hundreds of millions of litres of water,” MSF emergency co-ordinator for Gaza Pascale Coissard said today.

90% of Gaza’s Population faces malnutrition amid severe aid restrictions, UN warns

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) warned on Wednesday that 90 percent of Gaza’s population is suffering from varying degrees of malnutrition, as Israeli restrictions continue to block essential humanitarian aid from entering the territory.

UNRWA spokesperson Adnan Abu Hasna said in a press briefing that Israeli authorities are preventing “hundreds of types of aid” from reaching the enclave, adding that no assistance has entered through the Zikim crossing in northern Gaza.

Abu Hasna cautioned that Gaza is on the verge of a major humanitarian catastrophe, particularly with the onset of winter and the widespread deterioration of makeshift tents sheltering displaced families after months of intense conflict.

His comments echo earlier warnings by Doctors Without Borders (MSF), which said that despite a ceasefire, the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critically dire.

MSF emergency coordinator Caroline Seguin accused Israeli authorities of obstructing the entry of medical supplies, hygiene kits, shelter materials, and other essential items, describing the scale of suffering as “entirely preventable.”

Seguin said thousands of displaced people are living in overcrowded, deteriorating tents lacking water and electricity, with growing piles of waste and rising cases of skin, respiratory, and gastrointestinal diseases as temperatures drop.
