Hundreds of people staged a rally Saturday in the Swedish capital to protest Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, saying Israel is violating the ceasefire agreement, Anadolu reports.
Demonstrators gathered in Odenplan Square in central Stockholm to denounce continued Israeli attacks and the blocking of humanitarian aid into the besieged Palestinian enclave.
Chanting pro-Palestine slogans, participants carried signs reading “Stand up for Palestine” and “Say no to genocide.”
Protesters also urged the Swedish government to impose a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel.
Dror Feiler, a Jewish activist attending the rally, told Anadolu that although there is talk of a ceasefire in Palestine, the situation on the ground shows otherwise.
“Palestinians are being killed every day in Gaza, while ethnic cleansing continues in the occupied West Bank,” he said.
Feiler added that Israeli security forces in the West Bank not only fail to stop settler attacks on Palestinians but are also complicit.
“Our governments continue to buy and sell weapons. They continue to support Israel politically and diplomatically … that’s unacceptable,” he said.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society warned Sunday that the life of Ahmad Saadat, secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), is at serious risk after he was subjected to a severe beating in Israeli prisons.
Abdullah al-Zaghari, the head of the society, told Anadolu that Saadat, 72, was “severely beaten” during his transfer from Megiddo prison in northern Israel to Gilboa prison in the south, without providing further details about the incident or its exact date.
“Saadat’s health condition is difficult, and the Israeli assaults pose a threat to his life,” he said.
Zaghari added that the attack on Saadat comes “as part of the ongoing targeting of leaders of the prisoners’ movement under the instructions of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.”
“Israeli policies pose a threat to Saadat’s life and the lives of all leaders of the prisoners’ movement, who are subjected to brutal assaults despite the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.”
Zaghari called for “providing protection for the detainees, who are living under extremely harsh and oppressive conditions.”
Saadat has been imprisoned in Israel since 2006, serving a 30-year sentence in connection with the assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Zeevi in 2001.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees Affairs warned that detainees held at Israel’s Ofer military prison, west of Ramallah, are facing “harsh and humiliating” detention conditions.
The commission said one of the detainees, Ahmed Hareesh, from the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah, suffers from severe stomach pain suspected to be caused by bacteria.
“Yet, he only receives painkillers, while the doctor takes hours to arrive and sometimes does not come at all,” the commission said, quoting his lawyer, who visited three detainees and heard their testimonies about the conditions they endure.
The lawyer quoted Hareesh as describing mass raids on prison cells, assaults on detainees, and handcuffing them for hours.
She also relayed the testimony of detainee Najy Sharif Awadallah, 24, from Beitunia, who said conditions are “extremely harsh, with continuous beatings, daily searches and raids, scarce food, a lack of hygiene, and sleep deprivation by removing the mattresses at six in the morning.”
Another detainee, Ezz al-Din Khaddour, 20, from the town of Biddu northwest of Jerusalem, said he suffers from a foot injury for which he was receiving treatment before his arrest, but has not received any medical care for 70 days despite needing medication and follow-up, according to the statement.
The commission added that these testimonies “reflect the deteriorating humanitarian situation inside Ofer camp, amid repeated calls by rights groups for urgent intervention and an end to the ongoing violations against detainees.
The Israeli army has detained more than 20,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, according to Palestinian figures.

The Israeli army expanded the so-called “yellow zone” in eastern Gaza City, trapping dozens of Palestinian families, in violation of a ceasefire agreement in place since last month, local authorities said Thursday, Anadolu reports.
The army “widened the yellow-marker area by shifting boundary markers roughly 300 meters into the neighborhoods of Ash-Shaaf, An-Nazzaz and Baghdad Street,” the government media office said in a statement.
The move pushed further into civilian areas, trapping families who were unable to flee as tanks advanced, it added.
The office said Israel made the move only a day after killing 25 Palestinians in airstrikes on Gaza City and Khan Younis on Wednesday in violation of the ceasefire deal.
The media office said Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement daily since it took effect on Oct. 10, with more than 400 breaches recorded, causing the deaths of over 300 Palestinians and hundreds of injuries.
It said the sudden movement of tanks into eastern Gaza City left “dozens of families trapped inside,” adding that authorities “cannot determine the fate” of many of them because of ongoing shelling.
The “yellow line” refers to the zone to which Israeli forces have withdrawn under the ceasefire agreement. It is a non-physical partition that runs through the Gaza Strip, dividing the Palestinian territory in half, south of Gaza City and north of Khan Younis.
The media office called on the ceasefire’s guarantors – Turkiye, the US, Egypt, and Qatar – to act immediately to stop “the ongoing crimes,” and ensure the entry of food, shelter materials, medical supplies, and infrastructure equipment.
Israel has not commented on the statement as of yet.
Since October 2023, the Israeli army has killed nearly 70,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, injured over 170,800, and reduced the enclave to rubble.

UK police made a number of arrests Thursday outside the Justice Ministry in London after protesters staged a silent demonstration against the government’s decision to proscribe the Palestine Action activist group, Anadolu reports.
Demonstrators held signs that read: “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.”
Police have not confirmed how many people were detained in London, where around 100 people were gathered.
Protests also took place Tuesday in Nottingham, Gloucester, Truro, Northampton, Oxford, Leeds, Newcastle, Cardiff, Aberystwyth, and Edinburgh.
The protest was organized by Defend Our Juries, which is holding demonstrations in 18 towns and cities from Nov. 18-29, demanding the lifting of the ban.
“The Terrorism Act is being weaponized to silence the public. We will continue to resist until the ban is lifted,” the group said on the US social media company X.
Palestine Action was proscribed July 5 under anti-terror legislation following alleged attacks on the UK facilities of an Israel-based defense firm and damage to two military aircraft at RAF (Royal Air Force) Brize Norton.
The ban makes membership of, or support for, the direct-action network a criminal offense carrying a maximum sentence of 14 years.
Huda Ammori, the group’s co-founder, is taking legal action against then-Home Secretary Yvette Cooper’s decision to outlaw the organization.
A court hearing is scheduled for late November.
