One Palestinian was killed and several others were injured in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, marking further violations of a ceasefire agreement in effect since Oct. 10, 2025, medical sources said.

A Palestinian was killed and six others were injured when an Israeli drone struck a tent sheltering displaced people near Al-Aqsa University in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, a medical source told Anadolu Agency.

In central Gaza, several Palestinians were injured when an Israeli strike targeted the roof of a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp, according to the material provided, another medical source said.

A child was also shot and injured by an Israeli quadcopter drone east of the Bureij refugee camp.

The attacks came as mediators continued efforts to complete the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli army launched an offensive in the Gaza Strip in October 2023 that has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and wounded over 174,000 others, according to the material.

Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli army has continued attacks in the Palestinian enclave, killing at least 1,262 Palestinians and injuring more than 4,100 others since Oct. 10, 2025, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Turkiye and seven other countries on Sunday condemned Israel’s rejection of a roadmap for completing the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Gaza conflict, saying the move jeopardizes efforts to achieve lasting peace, Anadolu reports.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Turkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates condemned Israel’s declared rejection of the roadmap, as well as its rejection of Palestinian statehood.

The ministers said the positions amount to “a direct repudiation” of Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which was endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

They said Israel’s rejection jeopardizes the plan’s implementation and “fundamentally undermines the collective efforts undertaken to achieve a just and lasting peace.”

“Such rejection confirms that Israel now bears responsibility for obstructing the efforts to bring peace in Gaza and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory,” they added.

The ministers said the roadmap, which has been accepted by Palestinian factions, was the result of extensive efforts by mediators, including Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye and the US, alongside the High Representative of Gaza and the Board of Peace.

They described it as a key step toward the decommissioning of weapons alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of the International Stabilization Force, transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and reconstruction of the enclave.

Call for sustained US engagement

The ministers warned that rejecting the roadmap amounts to an explicit refusal to proceed with the implementation of Trump’s plan and threatens to derail US efforts to end the war and establish conditions for lasting peace.

They stressed the importance of “sustained and active US engagement” to ensure Israel’s full compliance with the commitments and arrangements set out under the plan and roadmap and to prevent further obstruction.

The statement said Israel bears “direct and full responsibility” for consequences resulting from continued rejection, obstruction, delay or non-compliance, including any deterioration on the ground or disruption of efforts to end the war in Gaza.

The ministers also called for the full and immediate implementation of the plan to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza, ensure security and stability, and pave the way for reconstruction and recovery.

They reaffirmed their support for Palestinian self-determination and statehood, categorically rejecting any attempt to deny or prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, including through unilateral actions.

“A just, lasting and comprehensive peace only will be achieved by the implementation of two-State solution, by the realization of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the statement said.

The ministers also underscored the importance of the continued role of the Board of Peace and called on all parties to support its efforts to implement the roadmap and advance the second phase of Trump’s plan.

They urged the board, with active US support and engagement, to take “immediate and concrete measures” within its mandate to preserve the integrity of the plan and prevent any party from obstructing its implementation.

Pope Leo XIV on Sunday renewed his call for an end to violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and urged the international community to advance efforts toward a two-state solution, Anadolu reports.

Speaking after the weekly Angelus prayer, Leo called for an end “to the repeated acts of violence against the Palestinian population of the West Bank,” according to Vatican News.

He also issued an urgent appeal to the international community “to ensure that progress is made toward a two-state solution, for a just and lasting peace.”

The Vatican has consistently maintained that a two-state solution based on secure and internationally recognized borders is the only viable and equitable path toward lasting peace between Palestine and Israel.

The pope also marked the start of the Mediterranean Games in the southern Italian city of Taranto, expressing hope that the sporting event would serve as “a prophetic sign of peace and fraternity among the peoples of this region and of the whole world.”

Athletes from countries in Africa, Asia and Europe bordering the Mediterranean are taking part in the event.

Most US voters say their finances have worsened since President Donald Trump returned to the White House, with less than three months to go before the November midterm elections, according to a Financial Times poll, Anadolu reports.

The Focaldata poll found that 53% of registered voters felt worse off under Trump, including nearly 57% of independents and almost one-quarter of Republicans. Nearly two-thirds said the US economy was moving in the wrong direction, while just 25% said it was heading in the right direction.

Voters also gave Democrats an advantage over Republicans on inflation and the cost of living, as well as jobs and the economy. Trump’s approval rating on inflation and living costs was particularly weak, with 64% disapproving, including nearly seven in 10 independents and about one-third of Republicans.

Overall, 55% disapproved of Trump’s performance, while his net approval among Republicans fell 8 percentage points from the previous month.

Democrats led Republicans 44% to 39% when voters were asked which party they were likely to support in November. Polls have indicated that Democrats are positioned to regain control of the House, while taking the Senate remains more difficult.

The findings come as inflation, high prices and declining consumer sentiment weigh on Americans. Inflation stood at 3.4% in July, while government data showed real wages declined last month.

White House spokesperson Kush Desai defended Trump’s record, saying, “The Trump administration continues to deliver on the President’s affordability agenda by lowering drug prices, reshoring American jobs, and cutting taxes while simultaneously touting a historic drop in violent crime nationwide and the most secure border in history.”

The online poll was conducted by London-based, nonpartisan Focaldata from Aug. 7 to 10 among 1,913 registered voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.

Yemeni army launches 181 operations against Houthis in 24 hours

The Yemeni army said Sunday it launched 181 military operations in the past 24 hours against Houthi positions and targets in several governorates, killing and injuring dozens of the group’s members, Anadolu reports.

The attacks destroyed “dozens of military equipment, vehicles, and weapons depots” belonging to the Houthi group, military spokesman Col. Majid Abdullah al-Nuzaili said through US social media company X.

Nuzaili said the attacks targeted military sites and sources of Houthi fire in Taiz, Marib, Abyan, Al-Dhalea, and Al-Hudaydah.

There was no immediate Houthi comment on the statements.

Yemen has witnessed a relative lull since April 2022 in a war that began nearly 12 years ago between government forces and the Houthis, who have controlled the capital Sanaa and other cities and provinces since September 2014.

​​​​​​​Fighting has resumed in several provinces in recent weeks, however, including Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Dhalea, and Taiz, as the country continues to face one of the world’s worst humanitarian and economic crises.
