Palestine Action ban marks Britain as ‘most repressive’ towards anti-genocide protests, international groups say

PALESTINE Action’s ban under terror laws shows Britain has the “most repressive and dangerous response” to civilian protests threatening Israeli arms sales, 18 international organisations said yesterday.
The groups, including Campaign Against Arms Trade, signed a solidarity statement on British state repression on the last day of the judicial review against the Home Office proscription of the direct action group.
But Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori faces a wait to discover whether her legal challenge has been successful.
After a three-day hearing at the High Court in London, which concluded yesterday, the judges hearing the challenge said they would give their decision at a later date.
More than 2,700 people have been arrested at sit-in protests against the banning of the direct action group in July.

Your Party to back independent candidates
https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/your-party-back-independent-candidates

YOUR PARTY will back independent community-based socialists in next year’s local elections in England, the new party’s members have agreed.
In a vote taken at the party’s founding conference at the weekend, and by members online, it decided to support “independent socialist candidates of good standing where there is evidence of candidates being engaged in community campaigning and having the support of their local communities or trade unions branches.”
The vote was by 81.5 per cent to 18.5 on a turnout of over 10,000 of Your Party’s 55,000 members. The party will also stand its own candidates.
Members also endorsed an electoral strategy of targeting seats where the party has a reasonable chance of winning, rather than seeking to stand everywhere.

Very occasionally I write a piece about the state of politics. It’s often about UK politics but this time will extend to global politics with Farage following the Donald’s policies and no prospect of politicians addressing the climate crisis. To address Wes Streeting and doctor’s strike, David Lammy’s attack on trial by jury, Nigel Farage and Reform UK, Your Party and the Greens.
