The Tel Aviv District Court accepted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request Monday to postpone his hearing to respond to corruption charges until Tuesday, citing “political and security” reasons.

The public broadcaster KAN said Netanyahu requested the delay Monday morning for “political and security reasons,” without giving further details.

The court and the public prosecutor’s office approved the request, and the next hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, KAN said.

The delay came as the Israeli army on Monday began attacking the Gaza-bound Global Sumud humanitarian flotilla carrying activists from 39 countries in international waters.

Live broadcasts from the flotilla showed Israeli naval forces attacking the boats one after another.

The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Israeli army detained activists aboard the vessels and was transferring them to a navy ship described as a “floating prison” before transporting them to the port of Ashdod.

Netanyahu faces charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust in three corruption cases. Indictments were filed in late November 2019.

Since his corruption trial began in 2020, Netanyahu has denied wrongdoing. Israeli law allows a presidential pardon only after a defendant admits guilt.

In addition to the domestic corruption trial, Netanyahu has been wanted since 2024 by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, where more than 72,000 people have been killed, mostly women and children, in a brutal war since October 2023.

Large-scale shipments of weapons and ammunition were allegedly transported to Israel over the past 24 hours through US military bases in Germany using dozens of cargo aircraft, Anadolu reports.

Israel’s Channel 13 reported Monday that dozens of cargo planes arriving from Israel at US bases in Germany were reloaded with ammunition before returning to Israel shortly afterward.

The report said the Israeli army remains on high alert over the possible resumption of attacks on Iran and that a timeline has been set for completing military preparations.

It added that there is a growing belief within the Israeli administration that US President Donald Trump could soon give the “green light” for renewed attacks on Iran.

On April 30, Israel’s Defense Ministry announced that two cargo ships and several aircraft carrying 6,500 tons of ammunition and light armored vehicles from the US had arrived in Israel.

Media reports this week also claimed that the US and Israel have been making intensive preparations for possible strikes on Iran.

Maariv: Hezbollah drone attacks raise concerns in Israeli army

A report by Israeli newspaper Maariv examined operations carried out by the Lebanese group Hezbollah against Israeli forces using drones, particularly an attack near Rosh Hanikra.

Hezbollah published footage of a drone strike targeting the Rosh Hanikra tourist site at the weekend, which wounded four Israelis, one of them critically.

The newspaper said Hezbollah was aware that fibre-optic-guided drones represented a weak point in the Israeli air defence systems.

It added that the use of such drones over the border area and northern settlements was intended to increase the psychological impact of the attacks beyond the physical damage they may cause.

According to the report, Hezbollah fighters deliberately target exposed personnel in the area with drones rather than buildings or armoured vehicles in order to maximise the impact of the attacks.

Hezbollah launched an explosive-laden drone on Thursday which fell inside Israeli territory near the Lebanese border.

The Galilee Medical Centre said four injured people had arrived at its emergency department, including two in serious condition and one moderately injured. It added that the condition of one of the seriously injured had deteriorated significantly and he was now in critical condition.

Official Israeli data revealed that the Israeli economy contracted by 3.3 percent year-on-year during the first quarter of 2026, impacted by the repercussions of the ongoing war with Iran.

According to a report published Sunday by the Israeli economic website Globes, the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics stated that the Israeli economy experienced a 3.3 percent annual contraction during the first quarter of this year.

The website explained that this sharp decline ended a period of growth that had lasted for two consecutive quarters, indicating that the war with Iran was the primary cause of the recorded economic downturn.

The data showed that the GDP per capita decreased by 4.5 percent annually compared to the last quarter of 2025, which the website described as the most realistic indicator for measuring the standard of living in Israel. The report indicated that the Israeli economy had recorded annual growth of 2.9 percent during the last quarter of 2025, before declining significantly at the beginning of this year.

The Central Bureau of Statistics stated that private consumption expenditure fell by 4.7 percent year-on-year, following a similar decline of 4.6 percent in the last quarter of last year.

Conversely, the report explained that security spending rose by 9 percent year-on-year, amid ongoing military operations.

Israel imposes strict censorship and a broad blackout on its economic and human losses resulting from the wars it is waging in the region, and it prohibits the dissemination of images and videos related to these losses.

IEA Chief Warns Only ‘Weeks’ of Oil Inventories Left Thanks to Trump’s Iran War

“We are living on borrowed time,” said one economist about global oil prices.

With no end in sight to the Strait of Hormuz crisis caused by President Donald Trump’s illegal war with Iran, the head of the International Energy Agency warned Monday that global energy supplies are running dangerously low.

IEA executive director Faith Birol told reporters in Paris that the world only has weeks’ worth of oil reserves left, raising the likelihood that energy prices will soar even higher in the near future.

Birol said that oil inventories are “declining rapidly” and added that there was “a perception gap in the markets between the physical markets and the financial markets,” as the price of oil in futures markets has not yet risen to a level that accurately reflects the coming supply crunch.

In his remarks to the press, given on the sidelines of a G7 gathering taking place this week in France, Birol warned that it’s only a matter of time before the supply shortage of fertilizer, which was also caused by the Iran War, leads to a surge in food prices that “might give a big push to inflation numbers.”

The Financial Times reported on Sunday that energy markets are approaching a “tipping point” where prices could see another upward surge that would throw the global economy into a recession.

Paul Diggle, chief economist at fund manager Aberdeen, told The Financial Times that he has been modeling the economic impact of oil hitting $180 per barrel, which he said would set off a global inflation crisis.

“We are taking that outcome very seriously,” Diggle said. “We are living on borrowed time.”

Oil prices briefly fell last month after the US and Iran announced a ceasefire agreement. However, the Strait of Hormuz has remained closed throughout that period, and Trump is reportedly preparing to restart attacks on Iran in the near future if no deal to reopen the strait is reached.

In a Sunday Truth Social post, Trump again threatened Iran with destruction unless it agrees to his demands.

“For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them,” the president wrote. “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”
