Hundreds of people gathered in the Swedish capital Stockholm on Saturday to protest Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, Anadolu reports.
The demonstration, held at Odenplan Square, called for an immediate ceasefire.
Carrying Palestinian flags, demonstrators marched with banners reading “There is a massacre in Palestine,” “There is genocide in Gaza,” and “Immediate permanent ceasefire for Gaza.”
Israeli Knesset member Ofer Cassif addressed the rally via video link, criticizing the Israeli government’s policies toward Palestinians.
Citing Israeli philosopher and scientist Yeshayahu Leibowitz, Cassif said the scholar had warned that when a state elevates military power and territorial expansion above all else, it risks moral collapse.
Leibowitz also warned that such a mindset could give rise to what he called “Jewish Nazism,” Cassif said.
“Today, the mass destruction, dispossession and massacres suffered by Palestinians unfortunately demonstrate the accuracy of that warning,” he added.

Israeli fighter jets struck medical warehouses near a hospital in the central Gaza Strip early Saturday, destroying at least half of the facilities and extensively damaging nearby tents sheltering displaced Palestinians, witnesses said.
Witnesses told Anadolu that the Israeli army targeted the warehouses next to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, completely destroying two of them and the critical medical supplies within and setting fire to dozens of tents erected nearby.
The attack caused fear and panic among patients, displaced people, and residents in the vicinity of the hospital, they added.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
According to the witnesses, the Israeli army issued an evacuation warning for the area only minutes before the strike.
The Gaza Health Ministry condemned what it called a “direct and systematic” Israeli attack on the warehouses, adding: “The destructive force of the missiles used completely erased two of the four warehouses at the targeted site and caused extensive damage to the other two.”
The strike also severely damaged the hospital’s adjacent outpatient clinic building and destroyed vital quantities of medical consumables and supplies directly linked to saving patients’ lives, it added in a statement.
According to the ministry, the early morning attack caused widespread panic among patients, their companions, and medical personnel.
It accused Israel of continuing to destroy what remains of Gaza’s health system while restricting the entry of medicines and medical supplies and preventing thousands of patients and injured people from traveling abroad for treatment.
The ministry called on the international community and UN, human rights, and humanitarian groups to intervene immediately, halt Israeli attacks, and protect medical facilities and personnel.
– Hospital services under threat
Hospital spokesperson Khalil al-Daqran told Anadolu that the attack destroyed a warehouse containing medicines and medical consumables belonging to the hospital.
“The bombing caused the loss of quantities of intravenous solutions, medicines, and supplies used in vital departments, including dialysis and intensive care,” he said.
Al-Daqran warned that the destruction would have serious consequences for health services, particularly amid severe shortages of medicines and medical consumables.
The attack damaged the hospital wall and surrounding buildings and left a crater more than 20 meters (65 feet) deep, he added.
The warehouse was a temporary structure built from metal sheets because construction materials were unavailable due to Israel’s blockade and restrictions on their entry into Gaza, according to the spokesperson.
While no financial estimate of the losses was immediately available, al-Daqran said all the medicines and medical supplies stored inside the warehouse had been destroyed.
He described the attack as part of a “policy targeting the health system in the Gaza Strip” and warned that the loss of the supplies threatened patients’ lives.
“Targeting health facilities contravenes the rules of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which stipulate the protection of medical facilities during conflicts,” he said.
Around 50% of Gaza’s health sector operating capacity has been put out of service due to the destruction of facilities and persistent shortages of medicines and medical supplies, al-Daqran added.
Umm Mohammed Wadi, a displaced woman who has lived in a camp beside the hospital since the war began, said residents were asleep when they heard calls ordering them to evacuate immediately.
“I started screaming to wake people up after hearing the warning. We rushed out carrying our children, and only minutes later the strike occurred and the tents were completely destroyed,” she told Anadolu while looking at what remains of her tent.
“Only medicines buried beneath the rubble remain, while medical supplies were scattered across the area by the force of the explosion,” she said.
Wadi said children in the camp live in constant fear and wake at night to the sound of attacks and evacuation warnings, while older people and patients struggle to flee.
“This is the 13th time my children and I have survived since the war began. Every time, we lose our tents and start again,” she added.
The displaced residents remained outdoors until dawn after evacuating the camp, uncertain where they could go, she said.
“All we want is to live safely like the rest of the world’s people,” Wadi said. “Where should we go? There is no ceasefire. Every day, young people are killed, and children, women and older people die.”
– Up to 60 tents destroyed
Another displaced resident, Abu Ayman, said neighbors woke the camp’s residents just minutes before the airstrike, allowing them precious little time to flee before the attacks.
“When we returned, we found dozens of tents leveled,” he told Anadolu. “Around 1,000 displaced people lived here, and 50 to 60 tents were completely destroyed.”
He described the destruction as “unprecedented,” saying the crater left by the explosion demonstrated the force of the attack.
Abdulsalam Hamdan, another displaced Palestinian, said his family left its tent after hearing the evacuation warnings and sought shelter inside the nearby hospital.
“When we returned, we found nothing. Our bedding and belongings were under the rubble,” he said.
“Everything you see here is medical equipment and medicine, yet the entire place was destroyed.”
-Healthcare system suffering under blockade, severe shortages
The attack came as Gaza’s health sector continues to face an Israeli blockade and severe shortages of medicines and medical supplies. Tight restrictions on their entry have further undermined hospitals’ ability to meet the needs of patients and the wounded.
US President Donald Trump announced early Friday that an agreement had been reached for the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, with Israeli forces set to withdraw in phases as the process advances.
Despite a ceasefire that took effect last October, Israel has continued daily attacks across Gaza, killing 1,209 Palestinians and injuring 3,943 others, most of them women and children, while causing widespread destruction.
With US support, Israel launched a genocide in Gaza on Oct. 8, 2023, killing more than 73,000 Palestinians and injuring over 174,000, most of them women and children, while destroying about 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure.

Israel’s prime minister has been met with relentless chants and jeers of “war criminal” and “genocide” around the US capital.
As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has traversed Washington, DC this week amid talks with US President Donald Trump, scores of angry protesters have rarely been far behind.
American support for Israel has only continued to curdle as Trump has plunged deeper into a war with Iran that Netanyahu has goaded him to escalate; Israeli settlers have rampaged across the West Bank committing what have been described as “pogroms” against Palestinians; and the Israel Defense Forces have flattened entire neighborhoods in Lebanon, displacing over a million people.
Polls from YouGov earlier this week found that Americans believe Israel is committing genocide by a 19-point margin. By a margin of 22 points, they said they wanted to see American authorities arrest Netanyahu in accordance with the ICC warrant.
As Netanyahu’s motorcade arrived near the White House on Monday, protesters were there to let him know, waving Palestinian flags and pepper him with expletives.
“That’s our tax dollars going right there, to protect a fucking war criminal!” shouted one man as a squadron of black SUVs escorted Netanyahu, one video from Al Jazeera shows.
Outside his government-provided residence, Blair House, more protesters gathered, pounding drums, blowing whistles, and holding signs calling to “expose Israel’s control of Washington” and “stop the US/Israel war machine.”

One keffiyeh-clad protester, identified as Joey, said he was taking part because “the only place [Netanyahu] belongs is locked up at the ICC.” He said he did not want his tax dollars being used by the US government “to defend someone like that.”
While he appears immune from legal justice on US soil, protesters have taken it upon themselves to remind him that he’s still on trial in the court of public opinion.

As the prime minister joined members of Congress for a dinner at the Four Seasons hotel honoring the late war hawk Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Monday night, more protesters stormed the hotel lobby.
“Bibi, Bibi, you can’t hide! You’re committing genocide!” they chanted before they were escorted out by armed security.
The protests continued the next day as Netanyahu met with Trump at the White House, where they reportedly discussed negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program and its control over the Strait of Hormuz, US attempts to increase economic pressure on Iran, and the possibility of Israel once again joining US attacks.

At the height of rush hour, a group of protesters braved the pouring rain to occupy a roadway in an attempt to block Netanyahu’s motorcade.
According to Bloomberg reporter Emily Birnbaum, the “unreal scene” occurred “because the White House erected extra black fencing that prevented the protest from setting up where they usually do, in front of Lafayette Square.”

“Prime Minister Netanyahu has a warrant out for his arrest for committing war crimes,” said one Democratic senator. “He should be nowhere close to the Oval Office of the president of the United States.”
And just like his other proposals, despite the claims that the mayor’s comments displayed “extreme views” and were dangerous and divisive, Mamdani’s demand that the US execute the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrant for Netanyahu is broadly supported by the public.
A poll taken by The Economist/YouGov between July 25-27 found that 49% of Americans believe the US should arrest Netanyahu, who arrived in Washington, DC on Monday to meet with President Donald Trump and attend the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) funeral.
Just 27% of respondents said the US should not execute the warrant, while 23% were unsure, according to the poll released Tuesday.

Nearly a quarter of people who voted for Trump in 2024 agreed with Mamdani, as well as 21% of people who identified themselves as supporters of Trump’s MAGA political movement. The view was also held by 68% of Democrats and 55% of Independents, as well as 24% of Republican voters.
Forty-seven percent of respondents also said they believed Netanyahu was guilty of war crimes.
With Americans increasingly disapproving of Israel and the powerful pro-Israel lobby, sympathizing with Palestinians, and now backing the arrest of Netanyahu by an “overwhelming margin,” said the Institute for Middle East Understanding, Trump is nevertheless “welcoming him back into the White House to lobby for more impunity, more war, and more of our tax dollars going to Israel.”
Columbia University professor Anthony Zenkus wrote that while nearly half of Americans believe the US should execute the ICC warrant, “we’ve got prominent Democrats and Republicans and their online supporters calling Mamdani a terrorist for wanting to do that very thing.”
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, are among those who have condemned Mamdani’s demand for Netanyahu’s arrest. Waltz said the US would not execute the warrant because the country, like Israel, is not party to the Rome Statute, which established the ICC, and does not recognize the court’s authority. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has threatened to “dismantle” the court.
On Tuesday, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) denounced the White House for hosting the Israeli prime minister while Israel is “wrongfully detaining an American citizen,” 20-year-old student Sama Safi, who was detained in the West Bank on June 2.
“As I speak, we’ve not been able to get justice for American citizens killed by violent Israeli settlers or by the IDF,” Van Hollen continued, referring to the Israel Defense Forces. “As I speak, Palestinians in the West Bank are under violent assault by Israeli terrorists who are terrorizing Palestinian villages, lighting mosques on fire, torching cars, pushing Palestinians off their lands, killing innocent Palestinians.”
“When Donald Trump meets with Bibi Netanyahu, things don’t go well for the United States of America,” said the senator, noting that five months after Israel convinced the administration to launch an “illegal war against Iran,” American soldiers are being killed and injured in the region.
“On top of all that,” said Van Hollen, “Prime Minister Netanyahu has a warrant out for his arrest for committing war crimes. He should be nowhere close to the Oval Office of the president of the United States.”

“A ceasefire should ensure that hostilities are paused, weapons are silenced, and that people are safe from strikes across the strip.”
Nearly 10 months into a “ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip, as Israel on Tuesday killed at least one Palestinian man with an airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp, Doctors Without Borders declared that “the wounds of war are not only unhealed—they are still being inflicted.”
“This is not a ceasefire,” said the medical charity, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), in a statement. “It is a continuation of the genocide, calibrated to be violent enough to keep Palestinians suffering every day, yet silent enough to avoid stirring international outrage.”
Israeli forces have killed more than 73,300 Palestinians in Gaza and wounded over 174,009 since the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attack on Israel—with global experts warning the true toll is likely far higher. Local authorities have documented at least 1,200 deaths and 3,900 injuries since the ceasefire was agreed to over nine months ago.
Nearly all of Gaza’s roughly 2 million survivors have been forcibly displaced, starved, or sickened. MSF said that “the destruction of homes has not stopped with the announcement of the ceasefire. Sudden and arbitrary orders for people to flee their homes and shelters continue to be used as a tool of psychological warfare by Israeli forces.”
Rajaa Jendiya, who was widowed in the “flour massacres,” is living in a tent at a school-turned-displacement camp with her children. She told Middle East Eye that she often takes them to the hospital because of illnesses.
“Inside and around the school, you often see sewage water overflowing, while rubbish accumulates, attracting flies and insects,” Jendiya said. “These conditions become even worse with the heat, and many times my children have developed skin diseases.”
“Our medical team keeps saying, ‘it’s not a ceasefire at all. It’s not even close to being a ceasefire’. We need to advocate… for a true ceasefire in Gaza.”

Accessing healthcare has also become difficult in the coastal strip, as Israel has killed and detained Palestinian medical providers, and bombed civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, including in the months since the ceasefire deal was reached.
As MSF detailed Tuesday:
On July 16, an Israeli strike near an MSF clinic in Al-Mawasi sent four injured people to our teams. The following day, two apartment buildings housing our staff in Gaza City were struck without warning, trapping families inside as explosions shattered windows. In one building, rubble and bodies crashed into the lower-floor apartment of an MSF staff member.
The same day, MSF teams in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, treated 12 people—seven of whom were children—who were injured after Israeli forces struck a funeral in Al-Nuseirat. In total, this strike killed eight people and injured 20. Among those killed was the 21-year-old son of an MSF staff member. Our colleague got the news while working in another emergency room.
“These were not isolated incidents,” the organization stressed, “but merely a snapshot of 48 hours in Gaza.”
Israel has also limited the flow of food and medicine into the war-torn territory. Calling out the country for using humanitarian assistance “as an instrument of oppression,” MSF emphasized that “the Israeli state has an obligation under international law to ensure Palestinians in Gaza have access to aid, regardless of political negotiations, military agreements, or conduct of hostilities.”
Since October, when the Israel Defense Forces controlled about half of Gaza, the “yellow line” indicating IDF occupation has kept shifting, to push Palestinians into “an ever-shrinking area,” MSF explained. “Today, almost 2 million Palestinians are confined to approximately 30% of the strip.”
Since the Gaza 'ceasefire' took effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli attacks have killed at least 1,207 Palestinians and injured 3,914 others.
Israel has violated the agreement at least 3,795 times.
After speaking with residents in Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, Rafah, and Gaza City’s Zeitoun, Tuffah, and Shejaia neighborhoods, Reuters reported Tuesday that “Israeli forces have advanced the yellow block markers during the past 10 days, triggering new waves of displacement in areas already devastated by months of conflict.”
While loading bags and mattresses onto a truck in Zeitoun, Assem Dawla told the news agency: “The whole war is displacement, displacement. You can’t stay anywhere without [Israel] telling you, ‘Get out of here, we want to come in.’”
Staying near the yellow line comes with risks. MSF said that “just this week, one mother told our teams that her 14-year-old son, who has Down syndrome, was shot five times by Israeli snipers near the yellow line while he was playing near his home.”
“A ceasefire should ensure that hostilities are paused, weapons are silenced, and that people are safe from strikes across the strip,” the group asserted. “Using it as a weapon of war and reinforcing the confinement to a fraction of Gaza cannot be justified.”
