Hamas accused Israel on Sunday of deliberately escalating its attacks on the Gaza Strip to derail understandings reached with mediators and the US administration on completing implementation of the ceasefire agreement, Anadolu reports.

In a statement, the Palestinian group said Israeli attacks since Sunday morning had killed more than 18 Palestinians and “wiped out” entire families.

The bombardment constituted “a deliberate escalation by the government of war criminal Netanyahu, aimed at obstructing the understandings reached with the mediators, including the US administration, to complete the implementation of the ceasefire agreement,” it said.

Hamas called on the mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to “assume their responsibilities,” condemn the Israeli attacks and “immediately” pressure Israel to halt its assaults and comply with the agreement.

The group described the attacks as acts that “amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity,” and called on the international community to take legal action to hold Israeli leaders accountable.

It also urged measures to protect Palestinians, who it said continued to face “the threat of genocide and displacement.”

On Friday, the Peace Board and US President Donald Trump announced an agreement to implement the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, with the board saying Hamas had accepted a detailed roadmap. Israel has not officially commented on the proposal.

Iranian military officials on Sunday dismissed US President Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran had asked for a halt to a planned US attack as a “lie,” as sources denied reports of an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

“Trump’s claim that Iran asked for the attacks to be halted is merely another lie and a desperate attempt to blackmail Gulf rulers and pressure them through threats,” the officials were quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency.

They said Iranian forces remained at the “highest level of readiness” and were prepared for all possibilities.

“If confrontation becomes inevitable, the battlefield will be decisive,” the officials said. “At that point, everyone will understand who holds the power and who will have the final say.”

Separately, a source close to Iran’s negotiating team denied reports that an agreement had been reached to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

“No agreement has been reached on reopening the Strait of Hormuz,” the source told the semi-official Fars News Agency.

An informed military source also told Fars that the strategic waterway would remain closed as long as the US continued “hostile actions.”

The source said vessels would be allowed to pass only through the designated route and with authorization from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Trump said Saturday that he canceled a planned military strike against Iran after Tehran and “other Middle Eastern countries” requested time to finalize the framework of a peace deal, saying Israel has joined the commitment.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed that the sides agreed to the “perimeters” of a potential deal that would include the “immediate, complete, and total” reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed Thursday that it targeted Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan’s eastern desert with ballistic missiles, destroying three F-35 fighter jets and heavily damaging three others, according to Iranian media, Anadolu reports.

In a statement, the IRGC said its aerospace forces struck the deployment ramp and maintenance hangar housing US F-35 fighter jets at Al-Azraq Air Base with several ballistic missiles, describing the attack as a response to a US strike on two residential homes on Iran’s Qeshm Island.

The IRGC claimed that three F-35 aircraft were completely destroyed, while three others sustained heavy damage.

It also claimed that several officers, as well as technical and maintenance personnel, were killed in the attack.

The statement came hours after a missile struck a house on Qeshm Island, injuring two people during a wave of US attacks across southern Iran, according to Mehr News Agency.

Earlier Thursday, the Jordanian army said it intercepted and downed five missiles launched from Iran toward the kingdom, marking the fourth consecutive day of such incidents.

On Wednesday, Jordan said it downed five missiles after intercepting one drone on Tuesday and two drones on Monday.

The developments came as the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces launched strikes against Iran in response to what it described as attempted Iranian attacks on US forces in the Middle East a day earlier.

Iran threatens to close Bab al-Mandab Strait

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has threatened to close “all other export routes used by the United States and its allies” after Iran shut the Strait of Hormuz and Washington reimposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports.

According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the IRGC said in a statement that the region’s energy exports would be “either for everyone or for no one”.

Analysts told Reuters that Iran was signalling it could rely on its Houthi allies in Yemen to close the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the strategic waterway leading to the Red Sea. Such a move could open a new front against Washington and threaten two of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.

The Bab al-Mandab Strait links the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and is a key route for Saudi oil exports and a significant share of global maritime trade.

A senior Houthi official said on Monday that the group was prepared to close the Bab al-Mandab Strait if Saudi Arabia continued its attacks on Yemen. According to a report published by the Iranian television channel Press TV, the official said such a move could push oil prices to 200 dollars a barrel.

The Houthis launched missiles at Saudi Arabia after accusing the kingdom of bombing Sanaa airport on Monday, an attack they said violated a four-year truce between Riyadh and the Iran-aligned group.

The IRGC said on Wednesday that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until “America’s evil ends”. Before the outbreak of the war in February, about one-fifth of the world’s daily oil and gas shipments passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC also announced that it had targeted what it described as command-and-control facilities, logistics sites, fuel supplies and military equipment belonging to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, saying the attack was in response to the latest US strikes in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a fresh warning to Washington, saying the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to shipping and that oil and gas exports from the region will not be allowed to resume as long as what it described as US aggression in the region continues.

In a statement, the IRGC said US military operations and its intervention in international shipping lanes were the main threat to regional stability. It added that continued US attacks would only delay the reopening of the strategic waterway.
