ISRAELI air strikes on the Gaza Strip have killed at least 14 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and also destroyed bulldozers and other heavy equipment that had been supplied by mediators to clear rubble.

Israel’s 18-month offensive against Hamas has destroyed vast areas of Gaza and the territory already had a shortage of heavy equipment to rescue people from the rubble left by Israeli strikes and to clear vital roads.

A local council in the Jabaliya area of northern Gaza said a strike had destroyed nine bulldozers provided by Egypt and Qatar, which helped broker the ceasefire that took hold in January. Israel ended the truce last month, renewing its bombardment and ground operations and sealing Gaza’s two million Palestinians off from all deliveries of essentials such as food, fuel and medical supplies.The strikes also destroyed a water tanker and a mobile generator provided by aid groups, along with a lorry used to pump sewage, the Jabaliya al-Nazla municipality said.

Government accused of scapegoating ethnic minorities after Home Office reveals plan to publish the nationalities of foreign criminals

LABOUR was accused of scapegoating ethnic minorities after the Home Office revealed it will publish the nationalities of foreign criminals for the first time today.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has ordered officials to publish the data including the crimes that have been committed by the end of the year.

The move is expected to lead to “league tables” of foreign nationals showing which nationalities are more associated with particular crimes.It is the latest hard-line anti-immigration policy announced by the Home Office in recent weeks as Labour faces potential humiliation at the hands of Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party in next week’s local elections. Today MPs and migrant charities accused Ms Cooper of pandering to racism and stoking the possibility of riots.

THE head of Israel’s internal security service has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of trying to exploit the agency for political and personal gain by making numerous improper demands.

In a submission to the Supreme Court om Monday, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar wrote that he had refused a request from Mr Netanyahu to identify anti-government protesters and put their financial backers under surveillance.

Mr Bar added he had been told to obey Mr Netanyahu, not the courts, in the event of a constitutional crisis. He also said there had been unsuccessful attempts to force him to sign a document making it nearly impossible for the prime minister to testify in his corruption trial due to security concerns. Mr Netanyahu’s office dismissed Mr Bar’s affidavit as “full of lies.”
