Undated handout photo provided by the Ministry of Defence of vanguard class nuclear submarine HMS Vengeance in Gare Loch, after departing HM Naval Base Clyde in Faslane, Scotland, to go on sea trials

REVELATIONS of radioactive leaks from Trident’s base were branded “as shocking as they are unsurprising” today as the government faced calls to urgently investigate.

Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) documents obtained by The Ferret revealed that the watchdog was aware of the 2019 discharge of radioactive water from the home of Britain’s nuclear arsenal at Faslane and Coulport — just 30 miles from Glasgow, Scotland’s most populous city — into Loch Long, citing the cause as the Royal Navy’s failure to properly maintain a network of 1,500 pipes.

Scottish CND executive member David Kelly told the Star: “The failures in pipework at Coulport, and the subsequent release of nucleotides into Loch Long are as shocking as they are unsurprising.

“‘How cheaply can we run a nuclear arsenal’ seems to be the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) approach to this most deadly of facilities.

“All mechanical components, as complex as a nuclear submarine, or as simple as a pipe, are designed for a specific life.

“At Scottish CND we make as much noise as we can about the four Vanguard class nuclear submarines which host the missiles we lease from America being well beyond their design life.

Vance ‘not welcome in Scotland,’ campaigners say

US vice president JD Vance, as Foreign Secretary David Lammy welcomes him to Chevening House in Kent, during his visit to Britain, August 8, 2025

ANTI-GENOCIDE campaigners in Scotland are planning a hostile reception for US Vice-President JD Vance, while the Scottish Greens have demanded that not a single penny of public money be spent on a man who has “no place here.”

Mr Vance had a holiday with his family in the Cotswolds before joining Foreign Secretary David Lammy at his official country retreat, Chevening House in Kent, for some fishing.

But Police Scotland are now believed to be on standby ahead of an unconfirmed stay by the vice-president at the private Carnell estate near the Ayrshire town of Hurlford.

Pro-Palestinian campaign group Mothers Against Genocide were set to offer their own greeting at the estate last night, waving Palestinian flags and rattling pots and pans to show their disgust at a man they say is “hunting and fishing while he is complicit in starving an entire population.”

Scottish Green MSP Maggie Chapman demanded answers on the cost of Mr Vance’s private visit.

As many as 1,000 police officers are thought to have been put on standby to deal with the potential visit, which comes hard on the heels of President Trump’s tour of his Scottish golf courses in Aberdeenshire and Ayrshire just a month ago.

Ms Chapman said: “JD Vance is a far-right extremist who has peddled misinformation and lies.

“He has played a central role in the racist Trump government that has torn apart families and communities, attacked women’s rights and armed the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Protesters chant anti Israel slogans and carry posters with pictures of Palestinian journalists Anas al-Sharif and Mohamed Qreiqeh that Israel’s military targeted and killed with an air strike late Sunday in Gaza, during a protest in Ramallah

HUMAN rights groups vowed today to file a joint complaint  the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the killing of five journalists in an Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip at the weekend.

Sunday’s attack hit a media tent outside the main gate of al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, killing Anas al-Sharif, 28, Mohammed Qreiqeh, 33, Ibrahim Zaher, 25, Mohammed Noufal, 29, and Moamen Aliwa, 23.

Two other Palestinians were also killed.

Gaza’s government media office says at least 238 journalists have been killed since Israel’s war on Gaza began in 2023.

The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights accused those responsible of war crimes and genocide, calling for arrest warrants to be issued and for all killings of journalists in Gaza to be included in the ICC Palestine investigation.

“The evidence is there,” the HRF said. “The legal foundation is unshakable. The jurisdiction is established beyond question.

“What remains is for the [ICC] to move past statements of ‘grave concern’ and take the decisive step that justice demands: act.”

Keir Starmer objects to criticism of the IDF. He asks how could anyone object to them starving people to death, forced marches like the Nazis did, bombing Gaza's hospitals and universities,mass-murdering journalists, healthworkers and starving people queuing for food, killing and raping prisoners and murdering children. He calls for people to stop obstructing his genocide for Israel.

Experiencing issues with this image not appearing. I suspect because it's so critical of Zionist Keir Starmer's support of and complicity in Israel's genocides.
Genocide denier and Current UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is quoted that he supports Zionism without qualification. He also confirms that UK air force support has been essential in Israel’s mass-murdering genocide.
